African Side Neck Turtles
The Turtles are a Trio of African Side Necked Turtles that reside in our aquatic portion of the zoo. As side necks, they tilt their head to the side rather than pulling their head strait into their shell.
The Turtles came to the sanctuary in February of 2024 where they were surrendered to us in hopes that they could be loved and appreciated by many as our first ever aquatic animals. Since then, many visitors have loved to see them explore their aquatic habitat and beg for food.
The Turtles also are famous for their charming smiles, due to the shape of their beaks, it always looks as though they are looking at you overjoyed that you came to visit them! On occasion, they may be hiding, but trust us when we say that they are getting their beauty sleep.
